Our Aims

To provide a safe and happy environment in which children can learn through play and hopefully making the transition from home to school as easy as possible for both the child and their parents. Children need not only to extend their learning through their childhood years, but to build an image of themselves as individuals who can learn. Early Years Practitioners support this through their own positive behaviour and through constructive planning within the curriculum. Physical activity is of vital importance and is the vehicle of much of children’s learning.

Personal, Social & Emotional Development

We support the moves between home, playgroup and school, and promote a happy, inclusive environment during their time with us. This provides opportunities for each child to become a valued, independent member of the group encouraging high self-esteem.

Language & Communication

We provide many opportunities for all children to talk and communicate in a widening range of situations. We encourage them to respond to adults and each other, while developing good listening skills. This helps them to practise and extend their range of vocabulary and communication skills.

Mathematics

We help the children to develop their understanding of number, measurement, pattern, shape and space by providing a wide variety of resources through which they can explore, enjoy and learn early maths ideas.

Knowledge & Understanding of the World

All children explore early science topics, introducing them to problem solving, decision-making, experimenting, predicting and questioning. They find out about their environment, people and places that have significance in their lives.

Physical Development

Many opportunities are provided for children to develop and practise their fine and gross motor skills. We also strive to increase their understanding of what they need to do to be healthy and safe.

Creative Development

The children are able to explore and share their thoughts, ideas and feelings through art, design and technology, music, movement, dance, imaginative and role play activities.
